Kristi Beitzel
Artist Bio
Kristi Jo Beitzel is inspired by the wildlife and scenery of her natural environment for impressionistic watercolor and acrylic paintings. She also enjoys creating abstract designs and dabbles in portraits of musician heroes.
As an extension of her watercolor skills, she creates hand painted chiffon and habotai silk scarves by stretching the silk out on a rake, using gutta resist for making realistic or abstract designs and then brush painting with dyes. The dyes are set by ironing three minutes on each surface and then hand washed and ironed again.
She also creates batiks by drawing and using melted bees wax as a resist, fully submersing items into different stages of color dyes and then “boiling” out wax and washing for finish products including caps, scarves and wall hangings.
She enjoys sharing her skills with others and is a member of the Associated Arts of Ocean Shores, Harbor Art Guild and North Beach Artist Guild.
She shows her art work at the Aberdeen Art Center Alder Grove Gallery, Fusions Art Gallery and Starlight HiFi in Ocean Shores. She also shows and sells in various local exhibits and festivals and by appointment at her working home studio, Studio: k.j.beitzel, 686 Mount Olympus Ave SE in Ocean Shores, WA.
